The Rio Negro are the People is an unseen 52-minute documentary that presents the reality of characters from a central region of the Amazon, the Anavilhanas National Park, the 2nd largest freshwater archipelago in the world. The work is of great relevance to the mosaic of Sustainable Development Reserves near Manaus because it allows more people to become aware of the importance of preserving these places threatened by deforestation and pollution.
With the pandemic of the new Coronavirus, the quality of life of the riverside populations of the Rio Negro Sustainable Development Reserve is being greatly impacted. Especially because most of the income of families in this region is provided by community-based tourism.
It was with this in mind that Academia Amazônia Ensina developed the Campaign The Rio Negro are the People. We are raising financial resources for the execution of three projects, throughout 2021, with strong social and environmental impact in the region. Learn more about each project by clicking here.
During the campaign we will provide access to the documentary The Rio Negro Are The People for 15 days for online viewing. Those who watch the movie and contribute will be able to participate in thematic meetings related to the issues exposed in the documentary. Aspects related to local riverine culture, sustainable development in the Amazon and conservation of the natural environment will be discussed with experts in classes previously organized and scheduled with our team.
The value of the access will be freely defined by who watches the documentary, in a conscious payment model. This value will be reverted to the implementation of the projects in the riverside communities.
By watching the film you can get to know the reality of the people who live in one of the most enchanting regions of Brazil.
