ABOUT THE EVENT

In January 2019, Academia Amazônia Teach carried out the 1st Amazon Expedition 21, with undergraduate students from different areas and cities. For a week, these people were introduced and updated about  Biotechnology, Conservation Units, Forest Economy,  Climate Change, Traditional riverside populations, Ecosystem Services, among others, in addition to various practical experiences.  

After this immersion, Academia Amazônia Teach, together with the Expedition group, holds the Amazon 21 event, where students will interact with   renowned speakers on themes that relate public policies, economic, social and environmental sustainability   

The schedule counts  with the participations  by Jaime Lerner (Urban Architect and Founder of the Jaime Lerner Institute), Natalie  Unterstell  (Superintendent of Innovation of the Government of Paraná and Master in Public Administration from Harvard University), João Tezza Neto, Dr .  (Economist and Director of Academia Amazônia Teach), Andrea Waichman, Dr. (Professor of the Postgraduate Program in Environmental Sciences and Sustainability in the Amazon - Ufam), Alessandra Galli Aprá, Dr . (Professor of Environmental Law),  Thiago Assunção, Dr. (Professor of International Relations) and Mary Alegretti, Dr. (Anthropologist, active for over 25 years in research with traditional communities in the Amazon).

The event will offer a sensory experience of  tasting of typical Amazonian dishes and ingredients. And to finish the program, we'll watch the Troupe's theatrical show "The Little Bee and the Tall Tree"  Ave Lola., set in Manaus in 1911, bringing a dramatic plot to the relationship between rubber tappers and rubber tappers in the heyday of rubber.

"Sustainable Extractivism in the 21st Century Amazon" , with Amanda Cavali, Marina Julião, Gabriel Nunes and Renata Serapião.
